Dr. Yang is an orthopedic surgeon in group practice with Manhattan Orthopaedics, P.C. in New York City.  He is Chief of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery and Associatehandanat2.gif (25254 bytes) Attending faculty of the Lenox Hill Hospital Department of  Orthopedic Surgery.  Dr. Yang is a Clinical Assistant Professor of New York University School of Medicine - Hospital for Joint Diseases and is also on the staff of New York Hospital Queens.  Although he is a board certified general orthopedic surgeon, his specialty training is in the treatment of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions of the hand, upper extremity, and shoulder.  He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).  He has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand (CAQ).  He is a member of the Performing Arts Medical Association.

After graduating from Yale University with a bachelor of science degree, he studied at the Duke University School of Medicine.   He then went on to obtain a Masters degree at the Harvard School of Public Health.   An internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery were completed at the Lenox Hill Hospital. Fellowship training in surgery of the hand and upper extremity was undertaken at the Hospital for Special Surgery of the Weill Cornell University Medical College.  He has published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters in the area of orthopedic surgery (publications). Dr. Yang is a regular presenter and invited speaker at national and international conferences and is considered an opinion leader in surgical reconstruction of the upper extremity.

Dr. Yang treats surgical and nonsurgical conditions of the upper extremity that include arthritis (reconstruction, joint replacement), fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, rotator cuff injuries, congenital deformities, upper limb tumors, tendonitis, carpal tunnel and other nerve compression syndromes.   He also performs microvascular surgery for replantation and reconstruction.  His clinical areas of expertise include the treatment of musicians, athletes, and pediatric patients.  Dr. Yang is listed in Castle-Connelly's "Top Doctors".   He was selected as one of New York Magazine's Best Doctors and was included in the New York Times supplement "Super Doctors".
